Delta Dunes
New Management: Lara and David Hammond - both Kenyan born and bred with a passion for the Delta, bring with them a wealth of experience in running and hosting camps and lodges in East Africa. David is a trained Cordon bleu chef and a very keen fisherman! Lara was brought up in the industry, is a keen cook and has a passion for wildlife and conservation. She has been visiting the Delta since she was 8 years old! In time for their arrival we have completed the new and improved top mess, boasting a 360° panoramic view over the Tana Delta and Indian Ocean.
Work has started with Watamu Marine Association through the Lower Tana Delta Conservation Trust (funded by Delta Dunes Lodge) cleaning up the beach of marine debris for recycling. In addition to this we have connected with Local Ocean Trust, a non-profit organisation committed to the protection of sea turtles and the Kenyan Marine environment. TheFormosaBay has been surveyed to be one of the best turtle nesting sites inKenya.
Sabuk - a little note from Verity
"Sabuk is looking magnificent - The Ewaso Nyiro River is flowing well, and is now at the right height that people can go swimming, as well as jumping into the pool below the main mess. However, everyone can still enjoy fishing, and rock jumping too. The elephants have been around and every now and then luck comes our way in the form of a very big male leopard... as well as wild dog.
The camels are looking good, with all this good green vegetation around, and now that we have horses, they are happy too. Everyone who has been riding here has found it very exhilarating riding in the beautiful wild surrounding countryside, amongst the game. The massage room has the most mind-blowing view, so people come out of there feeling really rejuvenated!
