Honour Way October 2011 Newsletter
Honour Way has sadly said goodbye to Carolyn Price who has moved back to Australia. Thank you for all your hard work and wishing you much happiness and good luck there. In turn we welcome Ruth Spells to Honour Way. She joined me on the 1st October and I am looking forward to introducing her to you all. She has come with high recommendations from Nicky at Ker Downey Botswana. Thank you Nicky!!!
Ruth in a few words...
"Growing up with an Aunty living in Africa, it was inevitable that I would one day take a trip across the water to explore the fantastic continent. My first taste of Africa was aged 14 on a family holiday to see the 'African Aunty' and then as soon as I could I embarked on a 3 month overland trip from Kenya to Cape Town and fell in love with East and Southern Africa. My planned visit of a few months turned into the most incredible five years. During that time I spent 2 years working for Travel Wild, a tour operator based in the Maun; then a further 2 years for Mack Air. I was fortunate enough to travel to over 30 of the camps; gaining an invaluable insight into the industry and making some amazing contacts.
I am thrilled that I have found a role that combines that experience with my knowledge and love of Southern Africa and the experience gained from working within different sides of the industry. Put this together with my passion for sharing all of that, and I just can’t wait to get stuck in!
Outside of work I love running and have even been known to run a half marathon (those who know me from Maun would never believe it!), I can also be found at the local Rowing Club after taking it up again after a 12 year break. Other than that I love a glass of wine or two and good food!
Can't wait to meet you all..."

SOMETHING A BIT DIFFERENT...
As some of you already know I am taking part in a leg on the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race and while the boats have all just completed leg 2 and arrived safely in Cape Town, I am only joining my boat (De Lage Landen aka the big blue canoe) on Christmas Eve.
This is a race that takes people from all walks of life and puts us all on 10 boats racing against each other around the world after several weeks of training. www.clipperroundtheworld.com. For those of you interested you can follow my progress at this website through the race viewer. In turn it gives us the opportunity to raise money for charities close to our heart and of course after 3.5 years of living at Tongabezi and a further 4 years of happily working together, Tujatane will always be a very important charity to me. I have therefore set up a page to raise money through www.justgiving.com/honourway where you can also see some photos of this madness to date. Just to answer one worry you may have – Ruth (info@honourway.com) will be manning the office extremely capably whilst I am away!!
In short I would hugely appreciate any contributions you might like to make and a huge thank you to those who have already sponsored me. I am going to try and write a blog during this experience but will certainly let you know how it all goes.
NOW BACK TO HONOUR WAY BUSINESS...
October brings the month of educational trips. We have had our Londo Lodge Mozambique trip last week, hosted by PJ which was a fantastic success (apart from a slightly windy arrival!) I am hosting our New African Territories trip on Saturday followed by our combo of Kaya Mawa and Zambia. Watch out for feedback on these trips in the October / November newsletter. We are currently in the process of planning next year’s trips so please register your interest with us - info@honourway.com
